You probably know that an avocado is not a vegetable. It is a large berry. The name “avocado” originates from some Spanish explorers who found the avocado but couldn’t pronounce the word for it in Aztec, “ahuacatl” (neither can I). They ended up calling it “aguacate” and it has evolved since. The avocado was also a symbol of love for the Aztecs.

Bakers, listen up. Avocadoes can replace butter in cakes and cookies for added moisture. Although the end product might look a little greener than it should, they are a healthy substitute, nevertheless. You may mask the colour with chocolate or simply flaunt the bright green tint. Or dark green if you burnt the cake.
